Lawangwangi Creative Space supported by National Gallery of Indonesia will held an Eddy Susanto Solo Exhibition titled Javascript on September 4 – 13, 2015 at Building A , National Gallery of Indonesia.  This exhibition will be open to the public starting on 4 September 2015.

Curated by Asmudjo J. Irianto and Suwarno Wisetrotomo, this exhibition will display the result of Eddy Susanto’s research in last few years, presented in about 50 art works comprise of paintings and sculptural installations, most in interactive works form.

JavaScript is concern on various elements of the local cultures compared to elements of other cultures. Beside comparing the culture based on the different location (West to East/Java), Eddy also make a comparison based on dimension of time (past and present), pattern of production (scientific/technology and religious), visual characteristic (text and pictorial) etc.  Eddy also puts a lot of two-dimensional cultural products of different times, as can be seen in one of the works that explores the 'pun' (word similarity game) between the javascript (computer programming language) with the Javanese alphabeth (Javanese text) - Asmudjo J. Irianto.

Eddy Susanto’s works presenting various colaboration between cultures (manuscript); Arjunawiwaha manuscript colaborated with classic work of Albrecht Durer (1471-1528) “The Promade”, the Asmarandana song colaborated with Lambert Hopfer work “The Conversion of St. Paul”, the book of Baratayudha colaborated with Albrecht Durer work “The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse”.  Eddy Susanto works show a strong historical character, and encourage awareness of identity. In this exhibition Eddy shows that Indonesia have a very long history and sucessfull stories, as printed in manuscripts in various artifacts and other objects. Lack of reading and interpretation activity to those historical sources make those sources seems like frozen - Suwarno Wisetrotomo.

When we give an attention to Eddy Susanto’s works, one by one,  then we can capture a major theme presented on this exhibition is the question of identity, which is increasingly clear when the various component of cultures cross each other in the works of Eddy Susanto, and generate several interesting new conclusions. One of them is the the presence of harmonization between global identity and local identity - Asmudjo J. Irianto.
