Artist : Nyoman Gunarsa

Nyoman Gunarsa was born inKlungkung, Bali in 1944. He studied at STSRI - ASRI ( Indonesian Visual Art College - Indonesian Visual Art Academy ), and he taught in that university after graduation. In 1970, he found Sanggar Dewata Indonesia ( Dewata Art Centre of Indonesia). In 1989, he found Museum Seni Lukis Kontemporer Nyoman Gunarsa Yogyakarta (  Nyoman Gunarsa Contemporary Painting Museum of Yogyakarta ). Finally, he found Museum Seni Lukis Klasik Nyoman Gunarsa Klungkung Bali ( Nyoman Gunarsa Classical Painting Museum of Klungkung in Bali ). From the first time, Nyoman gunarsa tended to paint expressively begun from the theme of Balinese daily tradition, the abstraction of the offering, aringgit ( puppet ) deformation, and dancer movement. Finally, he synthesized all of the forms of the offering, puppet, and dancer. Nyoman Gunarsa actively held an individual exhibition in Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, Washington, and some other cities in Australia, and Den Haag. He was also active in joining the joint exhibition nationally as well as internationally. He got some awards, such as Pratisara Affandi Adhi Karya in 1976, Karya Terbaik Biennale III dan IV Jakarta ( Third and Fourth Biennale Best Art Works in Jakarta ) in 1978 and 1980, Lempad Prize in 1980, and Medali Perak Biennale I Seni lukis Yogyakarta ( Silver Medal at First Biennale in Yogyakarta ), in 1988.
